Cyprus is ancient land of romance, its patron is Aphrodite the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. Her Roman equivalent is the goddess Venus. Legend has it she was born here on the islands southern coast rising from the sea on a giant shell.


Her miraculous birth is marked by a feature that still dominates this famous beach, the Aphrodite's rock. Aphrodite's legendary birthplace is in Paphos, Cyprus. The story goes if any manages to swim three times around the rock the goddess bestows them with perpetual beauty. With 340 days of annual sunshine the tourists arrive in their droves two and half million every year.

    Thanks for this post! Lots of times I've heard the legend about the Aphrodite's birthplace, but it is the first time I'm reading that swimming three times around the rock bestows you with perpetual beauty. I should definitely try doing this ;) Being serious, Cyprus indeed can make you feel like you are in a paradise on Earth. I've found lots of amazing places, in this article which a worth visiting. What do you think about them?
